Microbiome Makeover is based on the speculation that next to the human flesh, another body is embodied on the internet. They exist in a flow of matter, in collaboration with their microbiomes. Each human hosts a unique microbiome makeup influenced by various factors. The visual language of the work references the aesthetics of Flash girl games of the 2000s. These games were, for a lot of GenZ-ers socialized as girls, the first space of interaction with the internet, and the beginning of developing their virtual skins. Here, the player can brew potions from magical ingredients to feed their digital microbiomes.
