Web crawler is a soft interactive installation, a constellation of webs, both a shelter and a map to be explored. The textile interface invites visitors to touch, to play with association, and let go of the need for controlled storytelling.
My aim with the project is to explore nonlinear storytelling, creating a map that holds all possible action in its materiality but one that is useless in the urge to extract explicit truth. I am more interested in creating a tool for divination. Rather than telling a determined story, I leave things floating in potentiality.
The one who touches and triggers the soft machine becomes prey to the web, an actor in the creation of a fiction. Some things got stuck in the web, waiting to nurture the spider’’s body.
I received help with coding from the teachers of the Department of Digital Kunst, die Angewandte.
