Retamed body is an interactive and wearable soft-circuit piece, an exploration of my relationship to my body. I use the lens of new materialist feminism when examining how my body is situated in and objectified by different systems of power. By becoming conscious of its conditioning I aim to re-tame and redefine it while challenging ownership and practicing intentional detachment. This knit garment interwoven with electronics is both a sanctuary and a second skin to be shed. When touching its fibres, ethereal and bubbling sounds, abstractions of interconnected stories and belief systems become audible. I received help with coding from Patrícia Reis.
